Google has announced that it will be increasing the pricing for its Google Workspace plans, effective from April 11th, 2023. This follows the release of over 300 new features in 2022, including upgrades to appointment scheduling, email marketing, and video conferencing.
These cloud-based apps do not require local software updates, meaning users can benefit from the upgrades almost immediately. More AI-powered capabilities are expected later this year to further enhance productivity and collaboration.
Google has offered two payment options for its Workspace editions: a Flexible Plan, which allows for monthly payments per user account, and an Annual Plan, which requires a commitment to at least a full year of service. The cost per user, per month for Business Starter, Business Standard, and Business Plus was previously the same for both plans, but the monthly cost for Flexible Plans will increase to $7.20, $14.40, and $21.60, respectively.
To save costs, organizations signed up for a Flexible Plan can switch to an Annual Plan, which offers the lowest per-user price. However, if you cancel your subscription before the end of the contract, you must pay for the entire commitment. If you are new to Google Workspace, you can use discount codes available to get up to 15% off.
The pricing changes do not affect Education upgrades, but they do apply to Enterprise and Frontline editions. Those with 10 or fewer licenses will not see changes until January 2024. Existing contracts on the Annual Plan will be honored until the renewal date or the end of a multi-year contract.
